F -- first terms  in each set.....2x * 3x = 6x^2
O -- outside terms in each set....2x * -4 = -8x
I -- inside terms in each set.....1 * 3x = 3x
L -- last terms in each set....1 * -4 = -4

now we have : 6x^2 - 8x + 3x - 4....combine like terms
6x^2 - 5x - 4 <===
