Solve for x in the equation 4x + 6y = 12.

Isolate x on one side of the = sign by subtracting 6y from both sides:
4x = -6y + 12
Then, divide by 4 on either side to calculate the value of x:
x = -6/4x + 12/4
Simplify the fractions:
x = -3/2x + 3
