What is the equation of the line that passes through (4,0) and (6,-8)?

Hello : let  A(4,0)    B(6,-8)
the slope is :   (YB - YA)/(XB -XA)
(-8-0)/(6-4)  = -4
an equation is : y=ax+b     a is a slope

y = -4x +b

 

the line through point  (4,0) : 0 = -4(4)+b
b = 16
the equation is : y =-4x+16
