The legend of a map indicates that 1 inch = 16 miles. if the distance on the map between two cities is 2 3/8 inches, how far apart are the cities?

They are 38 miles apart because 16*2 3/8 = 16*2 + 16*3/8 = 32 + (16/8 = 2*3 =6) = 32 + 6 = 38
