Traditional roles/structures may  be but are not limited to - 

~Men;s role in society was to keep the family stable, both financially and in general

 ~Gender roles were extremely different back then. Both women, men and children had their lines.

~Women were expected to have kids and stay at home to take care of the family and houscare
