Why are hydrogen bonds important for how water moves inside of plants?

Therefore plants are constantly struggling to hang on to their water. When water molecules form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, such as carbohydrates, it is called adhesion. The hydrogen bonds have tension between them, so water molecules stick together and move together.
